Filling:
2 cups chopped dates
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar. Cool

Cookie:
1 cup soft shortening
2 cups brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup water, buttermilk, or sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1/8 tsp cinnamon

Filling:
Cook chopped dates, water and sugar, stirring constantly. Cool.

Cookie:
Mix and drop 1/2 tsp on UNGREASED bakig sheet.

1/2 tsp filling, and 1/2 tsp dough on top.

Bake at 400º for 10 to 12 minutes
