2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder, level
1 c. oleo or butter (Today butter is preferred)
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 pinch of salt
Enough flour to make a stiff dough

Roll thin. Cut and put on greased cookie sheet. Bake in a quick oven on 375º.

Nanny Beacham was my husband's grandmother, Mother to Alice Beacham Hurst and the late David Beacham. She was very active and full of life and we loved eating everything she cooked. I'm not sure but I'm thinking this recipe was her grandmother's recipe. As you can see recipe's back in our grandmother's times weren't exact measurements and ingredients were named differently - for instance - "Sweet Milk" and whole milk are the same thing and "enough flour" is a Southern measurement LOL...Bev
