Caramel Icing
Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
5 egg yolks
3 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice
1/4 cup whiskey
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 cups blackberry jam
5 egg whites, beaten
2 cups nuts
Directions:
Directions:
Cream 2 cups sugar with 1 cup butter. Add five egg yolks. Mix dry ingredients, In a separate bowl, add soda to buttermilk. Alternate adding dry ingredients with buttermilk and whiskey to egg mixture. Add 2 cups blackberry jam. Fold in 5 beaten egg whites and 2 cups of nuts.

Bake in 3 9-inch cake pans at 350º, about 45 minutes.

1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup sweet milk
1 3/4 to 2 cups confectioner's sugar

Melt butter, add brown sugar. Cook at a roiling boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in milk, bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Set to cool until lukewarm. Put pot back on stove, add confectioner's sugar a little at time until thick enough to spread.
