1 cup shortening
¾ cup sugar
1 cup molasses
⅓ cup milk
5 cups sifted flour
1 t. baking soda
1¼ t. salt
2 t. ginger
2 t. cinnamon
¼ t. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Stir in molasses and milk. Sift or whisk together flour, salt, spices. and soda. Shift into Cream/mollasses mixture and blend. Chill for one hour. Roll out thin on floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Bake in preheated 355º oven for 12 to 15 minutes. If you decorate, wait until cookies are cool.
