3/4 Cups Shortening (Melted) 2 Cups Flour
1/2 tsp cloves 1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Salt 1/2 tsp Ginger (if you like)
1 Cup Sugar 1/4 Cup molasses
1 egg 2 tsp Baking Soda

Melt shortening over low heat. Rmove and cool. Add sugar, eggs, molasses and heat well.
Sift flour, soda, cloves, salt, cinammon, and ginger. Add to first mixture. Mix well and chill.
Drop onto cookie sheet. Press flat, and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 350º 8 to 10 minutes.

Unbaked Date Cookies
Cook and stir in pan for 3 minutes or until thickened.
1 cup dates cut into pieces 1 beaten egg
½ cup sugar 2 tsp. butter
2 cups Rice Krispies 1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt ½ cup nuts.

Remove from fire heat and stir in 2 cups Rice Krispies, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/8 tsp. salt, and ½ cup nuts.
Take by spoonful and roll in coconut and put on pan with wax paper to cool. Or if you prefer roll in nutmeats.
