2 sticks plus 2 Tbsp. Butter
1½ cups sugar
2 cups sifted flour
½ tsp. salt
4 large eggs, separated
1 Tbsp. Lemon juice
1 can Mary Dunbar pitted dark sweet cherries, drained well.

Powdered sugar (for decoration)

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites until very stiff. Set aside
Cream butter and add sugar slowly.
Add egg yolks, then flour, salt and lemon juice.
Fold in egg whites. Dough will be very thick.
Spread dough evenly onto 11” X 14” sheet pan.
Set cherries on top of dough in uniform lines.
Bake at 350º for 30-40 minutes until dough springs back.
Cool and cut so cherries are in middle of each piece.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
