Apple Betty Recipe

Mavor Mom 1987


6 c Sliced (thick) Apples (peeled & cored)
2 tsp Lemon Juice
1/3 c Brown Sugar (packed)
1/3 c Granulated Sugar
1/4 c All Purpose Flour
1/2 tsp or less Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground Cardamom (optional)

3 tbsp. Butter or Oleo
1/2 c Dry Unseasoned Bread Crumbs
1/8 tsp or dash of Ground Cinnamon

Prepare: 6 c Sliced (thick) Apples (peeled & cored) with 2 tsp Lemon Juice. Combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, & cardamom add to apple slices & lemon juice, stirring with apples until coated. Spoon into 2 Qt Casserole dish with buttered bottom and sides. Melt butter add the dry bread crumbs and cinnamon. Sprinkle topping crumbs over apples in the casserole dish. Bake at 350 until apples are tender about 40 min or until apples are done. Serve plain or with ice cream. In Microwave oven at high for 10-14 min or until apples are tender in center. Turn Casserole over and let stand for 2 min after removing from oven. If topping doesn't get crispy in microwave, brown in oven or under broiler a couple minutes.

Good with a pork dish & scalloped potatoes & a salad
