3 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground allspice
3/4 cup shortening
1 1/4 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup milk
1/2 chopped nuts, optional
Cinnamon Frosting

CINNAMON FROSTING
1/4 cup butter
1 3/ 4 cup powdered sugar
12 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 to 3 tbsp milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Cream together shortening and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and pumpkin. Mix in flour mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts.
Place rounded teaspoons of dough on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375º for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool, then ice with Cinnamon Frosting. Makes about 6 1/2 dozen.

CINNAMON FROSTING:
Cream butter until light. Beat in powdered sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and milk. Beat until smooth. Use immediately.
