Notes: Coming home to the smell of this Spaghetti Sauce cooking, guaranteed a humdinger of a dinner.
This is NOT the American Beauty Spaghetti sauce recipe which became famous in the family during a camping trip to Canada. Mom and Dad miscalculated on finding an open campground, causing us to drive into the early evening until we found a spot. Just before we reached the campground, Dad picked up a 6 pack of beer for he and Mom to enjoy after the stressful drive to find an open space. As us kids hurriedly did our camp set up chores, Mom got to work on our Quick Spaghetti dinner, whilst enjoying a beer or was it two? When us kids came back to the camp with kindling, fresh water, and locations and conditions of the closest shower and rest rooms, we found Mom talking quite loudly and animatedly while stirring the spaghetti without the usual care. She spilled some on the table and put it back into the pot, along with some twigs and dirt from the table, into the spaghetti. People at nearby campsites stared, us kids cringed, and Pa laughed and took a second look at the beer to discover it was Canadian Strong. Mom settled down after a good night's sleep, and a family story was born.
