Ingredients:  
1/2 cup shortening & about 2 tbsp of margarine or butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 egg beaten

3/4 cup flour (sifted)

1/2 tsp salt

2 c quick oatmeal

topping:
1 - 6 oz. pkg choc chips.

1 can sweet condensed milk

1 tsp butter

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
cream first 3 ingredients.

add beaten egg.

add dry ingred and oatmeal.

save 3/4 cup mixture for top.

press rest in a 9 x 13 greased pan.

topping:

cook over low heat til chips melt. remove and add 1 tsp vanilla & 1/2 cup nuts.
pour over crumb base & drop reserved crumbs in very small dabs on filling.

bake at 350º about 30-35 minutes.
