1 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 tsp.salt
2 cups milk
1 1/2 ounce square unsweetened chocolate
3 egg yolks
2 T. margarine
1 tsp. vanilla

1 9" baked pastry shell (see Mama's pie crust recipe)
1 recipe meringue

Directions:
Directions:
In saucepan, combine sugar, flour and salt and unsweetened chocolate; gradually stir in milk. Cook and stir over medium heat till mixture boils and thickens. Remove from heat. Stir small amount hot mixture into yolks; return to hot mixture. Bring back to boil. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Cool 10 mins. Pour into baked pastry shell.

1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
6 T. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar till soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, 2 T. at a time, beating after each addition. Spread atop pie. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 min.
