1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup raisins
1 cup nuts
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 cups cake flour or
1 3/4 cup bread flour
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup applesauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar gradually, mix well. Beat in egg. Add chopped nuts and raisins lightly floured (flour from recipe). Add sifted dry ingredients, vanilla and applesauce. Pour into greased pan and bake at 350º for 1 hour.
