4 eggs, separated
1 tsp vanilla extract
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup sifted cake flour
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored. Add vanilla extract. Add ½ cup sugar gradually beating well after each addition. Sift dry ingredients together and fold into egg yolk-sugar mixture.
Beat egg whites stiff. Add remaining ¼ cup sugar. Fold egg whites into mixture and pour into 15 ½ by 10 ½ inch jelly roll pan lined with wax paper. Bake.

Cut jelly roll loose from sides of pan and turn onto a towel lightly covered with confectioners sugar. Trim sides of crust if needed. Holding onto edge of towel, roll jelly roll and allow to cool. Unroll and spread with jelly. Reroll.
