1 c. veg. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 T. vanilla
2 c. rolled oats
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. butterscotch chips
1 c. nuts (walnut or pecan - optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream together shortening and sugars. Add eggs & vanilla and beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients and mix. Add chocolate and butterscotch bits and nuts, mix in.

Bake for 15 min.

Grandma Welty always made this for every family event, ski trip and hunting trip. We didn't have chocolate chip cookies in the Welty house, we had Soldier's delights!
