2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
2 eggs (room temperature)
1 cup mashed bananas
3 tbsp. *sour milk (or) buttermilk
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º

Mix together thoroughly sugar, shortening and eggs.

Stir in mashed bananas and *sour milk (or) buttermilk.

Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Blend in 1/2 cup chopped nuts.

Banana Nut Bread - continued

Pour into well greased loaf pan. Let stand 20 minutes before baking.

Bake for 50-60 minutes until banana nut bread tests done. Should be light golden brown.
