4 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 c chopped onion
1/4 c chopped celery
1 tbsp. flour
2 c chicken stock(broth)
1 large potato, diced
2 c milk
2 c cream style corn canned or home-made
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
In a large heavy pot, cook bacon. Add onion and celery and cook until tender but not browned.

Stir in flour. Stir in stock; add potato and simmer 10 minutes or untill tender. Stir in milk and corn.

Simmer about 10 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.

Do not boil.

This recipe came from a Canadian Living magazine, probably around 1975. When my Dad died, a year after my Mom died and right before Christmas, our house was full of people and I just needed some comfort. So I made a huge pot of this soup. I added some homemade cheese biscuits and it sustained everyone for a couple of days.
