1 cup and 3 tbsp all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp vanilla flavoring

topping
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup pecans, chopped
1 1/2 cups very hot water

Directions:
Directions:
- preheat oven to 350º
- in a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and spices
- in a smaller bowl, mix pumpkin, milk, melted butter and vanilla flavoring
- pour pumpkin mixture into the flour mixture
- mix thoroughly to create a thick batter
- pour into a greased dish with very high sides

topping instruction:

- in a small bowl, stir sugar, brown sugar and pecans
- spread over the top of batter
- pour the hot water over the entire thing.
- DO NOT STIR!
- bake for 40 minutes till the middle is done and set
- cool for 5 - 10 minutes
