1 cup sugar
1½ tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 t. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
¼ tsp. ginger
1 tbsp. molasses
1 cup milk
2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
1¼ cups fruit mix
1 cup walnuts
1 cup Brazil nuts
1 cup raisins (Boil 5 minutes and cool}
Cherries may be added

Blend sugar, shortening,and egg. Alternate dry ingredients with milk and molasses. Stir in fruit and nuts. Bake 1 hour at 300. Many times I have used mixed nuts.

Grandma Ann always made this for Christmas and her love was the cherries, raisins, and nuts. Linden and I have made this for the holidays for over 60 years. It wouldn't seem like Christmas without this fruitcake. We enjoy this with a cup of coffee!
