Egg Yolk Paint


Ingredients:

1/2 c shortening or butter
1 c sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 tbsp. milk or cream
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy.

Blend or sift together the flour, baking powder & salt. Add to the creamed mixture and chill.

Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/8" thickness and cut out with a floured cookie cutter.

Bake on a greased baking sheet, or one lined with parchment paper at 375º for 6-8 minutes.

2 tsp milk

Mix well and split into small dishes. Add coloring to each.

This can easily be increased to as much as you need.

Paint the unbaked cookies with small paint brushes. After baking, they will be brightly colored and shiny.

For years I made these cookies and painted them with the egg yolk paint. You can be fairly artistic and detailed and kids love it! Make as many colors and designs as you like.
