1 c chopped nuts
1 square unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
1 c flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 c sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c milk
1 tsp vanilla

TOPPING
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c moist brown sugar
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate and butter in a dish over a pan of hot water. When melted, stir until smooth and cool.
Sift flour, measure and add baking powder, sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl. Stir in milk, thoroughly. Add vanilla, then choolate mixture, beating until smooth. Stir in nuts and turn into aa buttered 8" x 8" pan.

To make Topping:

Quickly blend sugars with cocoa and sift evenly over batter. Pour cold water evenly all over the top. Do not stir.

Bake 40-50 minutes at 350º. Remove and cool to llukewarm.

Serve with whipped or plain cream or ice cream.

This is easily doubled.

This is a favorite and quick dessert. It's one of the grandkids favorites! It's out of my Mary Moore cookbook. I'm quite sure everyone in the family has made it at some point.
