2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup soft butter or margarine
1/2 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup uncooked quick rolled oats
36 maraschino cherries (drained)
Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour with salt and set aside. Mix butter, powdered sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add flour mixture; mix well. Mix in oats. (dough will be quite stiff) shape 1 T of dough around each cherry. ( Cherry should be completely covered with dough.)

Place two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 325º

Cool - Frost tops of cookies with chocolate frosting and roll in chopped nuts. (You may wish to use the maraschino cherry juice in the frosting.)
