Memories: Pestka homemade ice cream has been a favorite in summer and winter in the country for many generations. In the summer, since there wasn't electric mixers until later years, a small kid had to sit on a gunny sack bag or rug on top of mixer to hold it down while someone cranked it. In the winter months, we have snow ice cream (avoid yellow snow!!). See Snow Ice Cream recipe for that. Homemade ice cream was one of Leo's favorites. The family got together for his birthday to make ice cream and celebrate, Aug. 6, 2015. He passed on Aug. 9, 2015.
