3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º

Cream together the sugar with the butter. Stir in the milk. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa.

Add to the creamed mixture until smooth. Stir in nuts if using. Spread in a 9" square pan that has been buttered.


In small bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup cocoa. Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over the top of the batter.

Bake 35-40 minutes

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream while still warm.
