Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 C butter
1½ C granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3½ C all-purpose flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt

Frosting:
3 T butter, softened
2 C powdered sugar
1 egg white
1 T milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ to 1 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs, one at a time; mix well. Add the vanilla. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Blend the flour mixture into creamed butter mixture. Mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours, or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Roll out dough on a well-floured surface ¼" to ⅛" thick. Cut into cookie cutter shapes. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 6-8 minutes (it depends on the size of the cut out and thickness of cookie). Cool completely on a wire cooling rack.

Frosting:
Mix together all ingredients until smooth. Decorate with colored sugar, jimmies or your favorite cookie topping.

Hint:
You can opt to use egg white substitute mixed with water for the egg white.
Using more cream of tartar in the frosting makes the frosting stiffer.
