1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
1 medium onion,chopped
3/4 c. rice *
salt & pepper
1 can sauerkraut
1 can tomato soup or tomato sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all except sauerkraut and soup or sauce. Shape into meatballs. Coat with sauerkraut and place in roasting pan. Place extra kraut in pan.Then pour tomato product over them. ( In a hurry, place balls in pan and dump sauerkraut over them. then pour sauce over all.) * Make sure there is enough liquid for rice. If using instant,this should be enough. If regular rice is used add more sauce.
Bake at 350º for 1 1/2 hours.

I have always used the tomato sauce. It was given to me with these directions and I am sure back in the early 70's a lot of people had tomato soup on hand. This was and is a favorite of my sons. They both still enjoy it with mashed potatoes.I have never made in a crockpot but think it may be worth a try.
