1 c. shortening
¾ c. white sugar
¾ c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
12 oz. package chocolate chips

1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

I usually make double batch and use a whole bag of mini milk chocolate mini m&ms. Plain crisco can be used. Or half crisco and half butter.

Beat shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients. Blend well. Stir in nuts and chips by hand. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.
