Cookies are moist and keep well

1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
4 cup sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1 cup coconut
1 large can fruit coctail
1 T grated orange peel
2 T Vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Drain the fruit coctail, reserving the syrup. Cream the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy. Sift together the dry ingredients, add alternately with 2/3 cup of the reserved syrup. Stir in the nuts, orange peel, coconut and fruit coctail. Drop from a teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375º for about 10 minutes or until cooked.
