2 tbsp cornstarch
2 cups water

2 tsp nutmeg (or)
2 tsp vanilla (or)
2 tbsp lemon juice with 2 tbsp grated lemon rind

Mix sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Gradually stir in water. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Stir in butter and flavoring.
