"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Directions:
Put flour and softened butter in mixing bowl. Use fingers to work the butter into the flour until no large pieces remain.
Next add the beatened egg, salt and yeast.
Stir in enough warm milk to form a dough, raggedy and rough.
Turn onto a lightly floured board, wash hands, with wet hands knead a few times.
Place in warm place and cover. After it has doubled (about 1½ hrs) turn onto a lightly floured board. Gently press out the bubbles and form dough into a rectangle to fit into a buttered breat tin.
Cover, set in a warm place, and let rise until nearly doubled.
Preheat oven to 350º. When bread is ready brush the top of bread with thinned egg mixture.
Bake until crust is golden, about 1 hr.
Remove, turn out of tin, let cool on its side for at least 3 hrs. before cutting.
