Cake:
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped dates
1 tsp baking soda

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1-1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup chopped nuts

Frosting:
10 tbsp brown sugar
10 tbsp cream or evaporated milk
4 tbsp butter
Coconut
Chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.
Cake:
Combine water, dates and soda. Let stand while mixing the remaining ingredients together. Combine the 2 mixtures.
Bake 35 minutes. Cool.

Frosting:
Mix ingredients and boil for 3 minutes.
Cool and spread over the cake.
Sprinkle with coconut and nuts.
