regular bread dough
lard or oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
1. Let dough rise.
2. Heat lard or oil in a large skillet or deep fat fryer.
3. When dough is ready according to package instructions, take a piece about the size of a baseball.
4. Pull dough apart and punch little holes in it.
5. Drop into hot oil and fry until brown on both sides.
6. Serve while hot with syrup.

Francie always made these for Fat Tuesday or Ash Wednesday. She liked to use Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix but frozen bread or roll dough works too.
