2 c. shortening
1½ c. brown sugar
1½ c. granulated sugar
4 eggs
2 T. hot water
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
4 c. oatmeal
1 pkg. chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375º. Lightly grease cooking sheets.
2. Cream together shortening and sugars.
3. Add eggs one at a time.
4. Add water and vanilla.
5. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture.
7. Stir in the oatmeal and chocolate chips.
8. Chill dough until ready to bake.
9. Drop dough onto prepared cookie sheet.
10. Bake on middle rack of oven for 8-10 minutes.
