1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup raspberry preserves
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Grease 13x9 inch pan. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat in egg, milk, and vanilla until well blended. Reserve 1/2 cup. Spread remaining mixture in pan. It will be a very thin layer. Spread preserves evenly over dough. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Drop reserved dough by 1/2 teaspoons over chips. Bake 400º for 25 minutes or until golden. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
