2 cups milk
½ cup veg. shortening
2 Tbsp. salt
½ cup sugar
2 cups water
2 cakes or 2 pkgs yeast
¼ cup lukewarm water
10-10½ cups bread flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in the¼ cup lukewarm water. Scald milk. Remove from heat add shortening, salt, sugar and 2 cups water. Cool to lukewarm. Stir dissolved yeast in the first milk and water mixture. Add 6-8 cups flour.
Mix with mixer 10 min. Add remainder of flour, knead 10 min. by hand or with mixer and dough hook.
Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise 1 hr. then punch down - let rise again - punch down and knead again. Let rise in pans (grease top of loaves). Bake @350º for 45 min. or until loaves are golden brown. Brush tops with butter.
