1 stick plus 1 T butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cups milk
½ lb shredded cheddar cheese
½ lb shredded mozzarella cheese
1 lb elbow macaroni, cooked until al dente and drained
¼ cup plain bread crumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Melt 1 stick of butter in a large pot. Add the onion and saute until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the milk and cook until heated through. Add the cheese gradually, stirring constantly, until melted and the sauce is smooth. Add salt and pepper to taste. Gradually add the cooked macaroni to thecheese sauce, stirring to coat evenly. Pour mixture into a 9 x 13 pan that has been sprayed with pam. Melt the remaining 1 T butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the bread crumbs and saute until lightly browned, about 2 minutes. Sprinkle the crumbs over the top of the mac and cheese. Bake for 30 minutes at 350º or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. Let sit for 15 minutes before serving.
