1 pkg active dry yeast
1½ cups warm water ( 110º- 115º), divided
1 T sugar or 2 tsp honey
2 tsp salt
1 T shortening, melted
4 cups all-purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
1.In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in ½ cup warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 min.
2. Add sugar, salt,shortening and remaining water; stir until dissolved.
3. Add flour and stir until smooth(do not knead) Rub small amount of oil over ball of dough.Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled.
4.Turn onto a floured surface. Divide in half; let rest for 10 minutes.
5 .Roll each half into a 10in. x8 in. rectangle. Roll up from long side; pinch to seal. Place seam side down on a greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
6.With a very sharp knife, make 5 diagonal cuts across the top of each loaf.
7. Bake in pre-heated 400º oven for 20-30 minutes,Until tops are lightly browned.
8. Cool on wire racks.
