1 scant c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped black walnuts
3/4 c. sour milk
1/4 c. cream
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
2 tbsp. shortening or butter

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients, except baking soda, with nutmeats. Beat egg separately. Mix baking soda, sour milk, and cream; add egg and add all to dry ingredients with softened butter. Put into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes.
