Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1/2c. + 3 Tbls. unsalted butter (cold and divided)

1 3/4 c + 2Tbls unbleached all purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

3/4 tsp salt

1/2c sugar (preferably baker's)

3/4 c packed dark brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla

6oz See's semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
1. Melt 3 Tbls butter in a sauce pan over medium heat about 5 minutes, until bubbling and foaming. Once butter is amber in color transfer to a small bowl. Scrape the browned bits from the saucepan into the bowl too. Add 1 tsp cold water and stir. Place bowl in freezer for 15 minutes to cool while you prepare other ingredients.

2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside until step 7.

4. Place cold stick of butter and white sugar into mixer with paddle attachment. Start on low and mix for a few minutes, turning up the mixer to medium speed as the butter softens and mixture becomes creamy.

5. Remove cooled butter mixture from freezer and add brown sugar, whisking until combined (clumps together).

6. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl and paddle, then add egg, vanilla and mixture of buttery brown sugar from step 5. Mix until well combined.

7. Remove bowl from stand and pour into flour mixture. Stir with wooden spoon until flour incorporates and forms into dough. Stir in See's semi sweet chocolate chips. Now your ready to bake.

8. Place rounded tablespoons of dough two inches apart on parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven 10-11 minutes or until the edges are browned and centers are no longer shiny. Let sit on a cookie sheet for 1 minute then move to cooling racks.

Personal Notes:
THIS is the recipe from the back of the See's Semisweet Chocolate Chips bag. The other recipe posted was something I got online. So it may be that See's has a few of these beloved recipes (?).

The browned butter was amazing in this recipe. It added such depth of flavor and almost tasted a smidgen salty, but w/out the added salt.

Definitely a go to recipe. Spendy with the chocolate chips. But the recipe above is call for 6 oz of the chips. The bags come in 16 oz sizes and a smaller one that we saw at the See's store today. So even though a bag of chips cost about $7-$8, it makes a double recipe, plus some.

Edited to add: I tried adding about 6 tbls of bourbon to a triple batch, the bourbon has a nice flavor, but it enhances the saltiness of the burned butter. Next time, I would omit the salt or at least half it for the recipe if adding bourbon.
