2 large quinces, peeled and thinly sliced
juice of ½ lemon
2 small cans unsweetened apple or pineapple juice
1 T. whole cloves tied in a double layer of gauze
7 apples, peeled and thinly sliced
½ c. sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. nutmeg
¼ tsp. salt
Topping:
⅓ c. quick-cooking oats
2 T. flour
2 T. brown sugar
¼ tsp. cinnamon
1 T. butter

Directions:
Directions:
1. Simmer the peeled/sliced quinces in a saucepan with the lemon juice, cans of apple or pineapple juice, and the whole cloves. Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes, then uncover and simmer for 8-12 minutes longer until liquid is reduced some. Remove the cloves, and cool for about 20 minutes.
2. Place the peeled, sliced apples in a large mixing bowl. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. When quinces are cooled, somewhat, add to the apple mixture, and mix together.
3. Preheat oven to 375º. Lightly butter a 9”x13 baking dish. Pour the apple-quince mixture into baking dish. In a small mixing bowl, combine the topping ingredients - quick-cooking oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the fruit. Dot with 1 T. butter. Place in preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour.
