1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1 2/3 c. flour - divided
1/3 c. plus 2T. corn meal - divided
1 c. sugar - divided
1/2 c. butter, ( melted and divided)
1/2 c. whole buttermilk
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
1 1/2 t vanilla
1 1/3 fresh blueberries ( can substitute raspberries, strawberries, blackberries)

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line 12 cup muffin pan with 12 paper cupcake liners.

2. Whisk together the baking powder, salt 1 1/3 c. of flour, and 1/3 c. of cornmeal in a medium bowl and set aside.

3. Stir together 1/4 c. of sugar,3T. of melted butter, and remaining 1/3 c. of flour and 2 T. of cornmeal in a separate bowl. Mix until crumbly and reserve for the topping.

4. Whisk together the buttermilk, egg and yolk, vanilla and remaining 3/4 c. sugar in a medium bowl until well blended.

5. Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and pour the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and stir with a spatula until mixture is combined. ( batter will be lumpy)

6. Fold the berries into the mixture and add the remaining 5 T.melted butter.

7. Scoop batter into prepared tins and add 1 T of topping.
8. Bake about 18 minutes
