One box cake recipe (see recipe)
1 (3 oz.) box Jell-O - flavor of your choice
1 cup boiling water
½ cup cold water

Topping ingredients:*
1 (8 oz.) container of Cool Whip
1 (3.4 oz.) box Jell-O instant vanilla pudding
1 cup milk

Another Topping:**
1 (8 oz .) block cream cheese softened
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup confectioners' sugar
1 (8 oz.) container of Cool Whip

With strawberry Jello decorate with strawberries, blueberries and/or raspberries
With lime Jello decorate with lemon or lime peel and use lemon instant pudding if desired.

Directions:
Directions:
1. Bake the Box Cake recipe in a glass 13x9 inch pan or 2-8 inch round pans.
2. Once cooled, with 2-prong fork, poke holes close to each other all over cake.
3. In a medium bowl stir together the boiling water and Jell-O until dissolved.
Stir in the cold water.
4. Pour Jell-O evenly over the cake, letting the mixture soak into the holes.
5. Refrigerate cake for a few hours.
6. In another bowl whisk instant pudding and milk. When combined,
fold in Cool Whip.*
7. Spread an even layer over the cake. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours/overnight.
8. When ready to serve, decorate with fruit.
For a flag cake, use blueberries to create the upper left quadrant of the flag. Leave
white spaces for the stars. Use raspberries to create the red stripes of the flag.

Poke cakes go back to the '70's. They transform a plain 2 layer cake to a multicolored layer cake for Christmas with red Jell-O poured over one layer and green Jell-O poured over the other or red and blue Jell-O for the 4th of July.
