1½ c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
5 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
Buttercream frosting:
1 lb. powdered sugar
¼ tsp. salt
¼ c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
½ c. soft butter
1 tsp. lemon extract

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter, sugar eggs until light and fluffy. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt. Gradually beat dry ingredients into the eggs and sugar. Add the vanilla. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 for 6-8 minutes.
For frosting:
Beat together the powdered sugar, salt, milk, vanilla,and butter. Beat until creamy. Scrape side of bowl often. Add the lemon extract. Use to frost sugar cookies when they have cooled.
