3 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
4 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp baking soda
3Tbs buttermilk
1 tsp each nutmeg, cinnamon
1/2 cup whiskey
1 tsp vanilla
1 box golden raisins
2 lbs chopped candied fruit (cherries, pineapple)
3 cups chopped pecans

Directions:

Mix chopped fruit, raisins and pecans in large bowl. Add 3/4 cup flour and toss to cover fruit and nuts.
In separate bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and buttermilk. Add remaining flour, soda and spices and blend gradually. Beat in whiskey, then vanilla. Pour batter over fruit and stir well until all fruit is coated. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes approximately 8 dozen.

I have been making this recipe from one of my Bell Telephone Pioneer cookbooks for many years. These cookies are colorful and not overly sweet, so a great little holiday treat with morning coffee.
