1 lb beef (round or sirloin steak) Cut beef across the grain into 1 inch x 1/2 inches x 1/8 inches strips.
marinade:
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp white pepper


1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp finely chopped ginger root
1 tsp finely chopped garlic
1 tsp Chinese chili paste
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 green onions (with tops) sliced in inch pieces
1 large green pepper julienned
3/4 cup shredded carrots


Directions:

1. combine the marinade ingredients and cover the beef with it. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes
2. Heat up a wok or large fry pan, add the 1/4 cup vegetable oil.
3. Add the beef, ginger and garlic. Stirring often, cook until the beef is brown. About 3 minutes
4. Add the green pepper, carrots and chili paste. stir-fry for 1 minute
5. Add the tbsp soy sauce and corn starch, stir in together with the green onion. Stir for about 30 seconds.

Serve over rice
