½ c. sugar
1 c. oleo or butter
1 whole egg
1 egg yolk
1 c. flour
Topping:
1 c. almond paste
1 c. sugar
½ tsp. lemon juice
3 egg whites
2 T. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
½ c. finely chopped almonds or walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together butter, sugar, 1 whole egg, 1 egg yolk, and flour. Put in an 8” or 9”square pan and bake for 15-20 mins in a 325º oven.
For the topping, mix the almond paste, sugar, and lemon juice together. In a separate bowl, beat together the 3 egg whites, 2 T. sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix together with the almond paste mixture. Spread on the baked dough. Sprinkle with the chopped nuts. Put back in oven and bake for another 20 mins.
