¾ c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
¼ c. molasses
1 egg
2¼ c. flour, sifted
2 t. baking soda
½ t. salt
1 t. ginger
1 t. cinnamon
½ t. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, molasses and egg until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture until blended. Form into small balls and roll in white sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350º for about 10 minutes.
