Sift together 3 cups flour and 1 tsp. salt
Cream 2⅔ cups sugar and ¾ cup shortening
Add 3 eggs
Dissolve ¾ cup cocoa in 1½ cups hot coffee Add to mixture.
Dissolve 1½ tsp. soda in ¾ cup boiling water. Add and blend well.

Bake in 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350.

This was Aunt Louise's favorite cake and was enjoyed by all when she visited the Herman relatives. Mother also made this cake but just not sure if this is her recipe.
