We used to have this family favorite with lots of butter! Now we get Mom to make it and we load on the taco fixin's. Great supper. Mom used to make the bread dough, but since her family has grown from 7 to 18, she cheats and uses frozen. If you have asked your mother for a recipe (that's basically in her head) you'll know what I mean. Here - this is what I got:
Bread dough, Pan of hot grease
Each loaf of dough makes about 10 pieces of squaw bread. Break off a piece and work it out about the size of your hand. Place in hot grease (be careful!) and turn it with a fork or tongs when it's browned.
