Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. butter
½ c. confectioners’ sugar
¼ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
2 c. flour
Your favorite jam

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter. First, measure the dry ingredients. Then sift the already measured dry ingredients together and gradually mix into butter. DO NOT remeasure after sifting. This is a very stiff batter. Shape with hands into balls ¾” in diameter. Press a melon baller into the center to create a depression. Fill with jam, jelly,. Dan doesn’t like anything in them, so for those without filling, I use a fork to flatten a bit before baking.Bake at 350º for 20-25 minutes. You can also fill them with a chocolate kiss. If doing that, I put the kiss into the indentation as soon as they come out of the oven. They soften, then if you like, you can flatten the chocolate a bit (very gently) to make them easier to transport if you are taking them as a dessert to some function. I ground walnuts and rolled some of the balls into the ground walnuts prior to making the depression with the melon baller. For those who like nuts, these are good.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
These cookies were some of Mom’s favorites to make at Christmas when we were young. When Tony and Jessica had a Welcoming Party for Josie at their house, they served these cookies, and Mark, Bob, and I were remembering how Mom loved making these.
