1 cup Crisco, butter flavored
1 cups sugar
cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
Frosting, sparkling sugar and decorator sprinkles (optional)

Directions:
Beat shortening, sugar and brown sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy. Add milk and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and slat in separate large bowl. Add gradually to shortening mixture, beating until well blended. Cover and chill 1 hour.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out 1/3 of dough at a time on lightly floured surface to -inch thickness. Cut into shapes with floured 2-to 3-inch cookie cutters. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with sparkling sugar and decorator sprinkles, if desired.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool on baking sheet 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Frost and decorate as desired.
